Welcome...

We are a Christian homeschool group based in Emmaus, serving the Lehigh Valley.  All ages are welcome, but most of our children are over age ten with a larger concentration being pre-teens and teens.  Enrichment classes and diploma meetings are geared towards PA ACT 169 homeschooling.  However, all methods of educating our children are used.

Our goal is to support one another, provide each other with information about homeschooling, and to provide activities for our children and our moms.  Some of the things we offer are monthly bowling, park days in season, field trips, diploma programs moms’ meetings, and enrichment classes.  We are the main means of distributing information for Generation Joshua of the Lehigh Valley, the local Gen J club.

We will not promote activities that are of a questionable nature or may be a stumbling block to fellow Christians.  Sharing devotional material, prayer requests and concerns are encouraged.  There are various groups with many secular activities available and we also have some of our own, however, we will strive to provide additional Christian alternatives.

Members are required to participate and support the group by contributing to it.  Sharing events and activities in your area, passing on an uplifting article, and suggestions for activities are all ways to support the group; in addition to planning trips and attending existing offerings.

No, we do not require a signed statement of faith.  However, before you join the group seriously consider if it will meet your needs and that you will be a blessing to others by actively participating.

Email Etiquette

Since many of us are on several of the same lists, please do not post or forward messages which are sent out by the group administrator.  There is bound to be cross posting because many of us do belong to several of the same groups, so it is not necessary to forward another groups’ information.

The purpose of Homeschool Happenings is to share information, to support, and to assist each other in our homeschooling ventures.  We ask that you post your messages with one item of interest per email.  That will allow our members to easily save emails they are interested in and delete those which they do not need.

HHaPA encourages the sharing of information from other homeschool groups providing that it meets the group guidelines.  When forwarding emails from other groups, only forward the information for one item of interest at a time, please.  Also, try to give credit where credit is due and not claim someone else’s work as your own.

It is also preferred that you cut and paste the information to make sure the message is easy to read and remove email addresses that accumulate with each forward.  Also, please do not forward the message as an attachment since some security programs make it difficult to open an email message that is forwarded as an attachment.

If you do not mind if your message is forwarded to another group, you can state “Pass On” or something similar.  If you would rather not have your message forwarded to another group, please say so.

Membership Requirements

Members are required to contribute in some way.  An article, a piece of advice, sharing some news on home education, asking for advice or an opinion, running an activity, planning a trip, attending planned activities, etc.  Failure to contibute means removal from the group.

Also, each perspective member will attend an outing or meeting with other members and fill out the required application and contribution forms before becoming a member and being added to the group list.  All memberships will be approved by Sue once you have met the above requirements.

This group was designed as a support group which requires interaction among members.
